On the morning of Friday, May 22, 2026, Philadelphia Police officers responded to the 600 block of East Hilton Street, where police located a witness who said he was looking for scrap in the alley when he opened a discarded, gray suitcase containing what appeared to be the remains of a human body. Further investigation uncovered two large industrial-sized trash bags, which contained additional human body parts, all in the early stages of decomposition. The Office of the Medical Examiner noted the remains were male and of an unknown race due to the level of decay. In addition, the victim also suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Further investigation found Defendant Liza Ridley used a ride share service on the morning before on Thursday, May 21. She had with her a gray suitcase, and a fluid stain was found on the floor of the ride share’s vehicle after Defendant Liza Ridley left the car. Defendant Liza Ridley had a close connection to the victim and is a registered Home Health Aide for Exceptional Heart Home Care Services. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
Defendants Bernadette Ridley (sister of Liza Ridley), Liza Robinson (daughter of Liza Ridley) and Gnaeus Daniels (boyfriend of Liza Robinson) are being charged for assisting in cleaning up the crime scene and disposing of evidence. Bernadette Ridley is also being charged for helping to dismember the victim’s body.
“This case was quickly solved largely thanks to two good Samaritan Philadelphians who came forward as crucial witnesses and shared vital information with law enforcement,” said District Attorney Larry Krasner. “I want to thank ADA Cydney Pope and our law enforcement partners in the Homicide Unit of the Philadelphia Police Department for their thorough investigation, which is ongoing. In addition to prosecuting this case, my office is working to make sure trauma-informed services and resources are available to the victim’s grieving loved ones.”
