DA Larry Krasner, DAO Community Engagement Unit Announce New Round of Violence Prevention Grant Awards

PHILADELPHIA (May 20, 2024) — District Attorney Larry Krasner and the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office Community Engagement Unit awarded over $400,000 in violence prevention microgrants to 18 community-based 501(c)(3) organizations. This is the largest award distributed by the DAO and Philadelphia Foundation since the Violence Prevention Grant Program launched in May 2021. The program has awarded over $2 million since its inception.

As warmer weather approaches, so does the likelihood of increased gun violence. This latest round of awards is in keeping with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office’s (DAO) commitment to community-based organizations carrying out the important work of addressing the root causes of gun violence.

The awardees are as follows:

AMANDLA/Safe Hub, Inc. is awarded $20,000.

Azzim Dukes Initiative is awarded $10,000.

Bartram’s Garden is awarded $20,000.

Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling is awarded $25,000.

Build Our Lives Together (BOLT) is awarded $50,000.

BuildaBridge International is awarded $15,000.

Camp Jamison is awarded $20,000.

Power of Paint Academy is awarded $30,000.

Philadelphia Youth Football Academy is awarded $10,000.

Eyekonz Sports League is awarded $30,000.

Neighborhood Bike Works is awarded $20,000.

KB Foundation is awarded $20,000.

Kensington Soccer Club is awarded $25,000.

Lighthouse is awarded $50,000.

Men Who Care Germantown is awarded $30,000.

Rebel Arts Movement is awarded $10,000.

Shoot Basketball Not People is awarded $20,000.

Tree House Books is awarded $25,000.

The application process for the next round of violence prevention grants is now open. Interested 501(c)(3) groups must apply by contacting [email protected] no later than June 7, 2024.

DAO violence prevention grant funding, derived from the lawful and appropriate use of civil asset forfeiture, is distributed and audited by the Philadelphia Foundation.
