For the Commonwealth: Assistant District Attorney Alexander Blumenthal

Thanks to Assistant District Attorney Alexander Blumenthal, Supervisor of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office Elder Justice Unit, for helping secure justice in a case where an older Philadelphia resident was the victim of theft and fraud. This prosecution was based on Philadelphia Police Detective Frederick Straub’s diligent investigation. The evidence showed that the defendant used her friendship with the complaining witness in order to gain access to her checks, bank accounts, and credit cards.  The defendant stole tens of thousands of dollars by forging checks and making unauthorized credit and debit card transactions. The court found the defendant guilty of felony forgery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and access device fraud. The defendant’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for May before the Hon. Donna M. Woelpper.
