On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 7, 19th District Police officers responded to a large physical altercation near Overbrook High School. During the incident, Seay arrived at the scene in an SUV and made his way into the crowd, armed with a handgun. As officers struggled to break up the altercation, the defendant attempted to conceal the firearm in his hoodie when the weapon discharged. The round ricocheted off a fire hydrant before striking an officer in the stomach. Seay attempted to flee to the SUV but was quickly apprehended by police and placed into custody. The Ruger handgun was recovered from the scene.
