PHILADELPHIA (January 14, 2025)—District Attorney Larry Krasner, First Assistant Robert Listenbee, and members of the Homicide and Non-Fatal Shooting Unit announced on Tuesday that a Philadelphia jury convicted Eric Alamo (DOB 6/4/76) for his role in the kidnapping and robbery of two victims in the city’s Kensington area.
Alamo was found guilty last week of Robbery (F1), Kidnapping for Ransom (F1), Conspiracy (F1), Unlawful Restraint/Serious Bodily Injury (M1), amongst other charges.
On November 11, 2021, Alamo, along with two co-conspirators, kidnapped the victim in the city’s Kensington section. The victim was then duct taped to a chair, pistol whipped, and beaten with a knife, which left him with minor cuts. Alamo then took the victim’s money via CashApp and what the victim had on his person. The defendant then took the victim by gunpoint to his car and drove to Harrowgate Plaza to pick up the victim’s wife and nine-year-old son.
The defendant made the victim call his wife and ordered her to bring money and narcotics. Before arriving, the victim’s wife called her sister and told her about the situation. Once the wife arrived, Alamo stripped her of her physical belongings and forced her to make an ATM withdrawal. From there, the defendant drove the victim and his wife to the Lincoln Hotel in Bensalem, PA.
Once inside the hotel room, the defendant forced the duct-taped male victim in the bathtub and coerced the victim’s wife to send multiple CashApp payments to Alamo.
Meanwhile, the victim’s wife’s sister alerted the Bensalem Police Department to the victims’ location. The Bensalem Police Department responded to the scene. Upon arriving at the hotel room, officers saw the victim whispering, “help me”. Once inside, the police found the three victims and Mr. Alamo in the hotel room. In addition, duct tape with the complainant’s DNA and a pistol with the defendant’s DNA were also recovered.
“I’m grateful for Assistant District Attorney Kyle Russell’s skilled prosecution of this case,” said DA Krasner. “This conviction shows the excellent and collaborative connection between police and the DA’s office. Thanks to the diligent work of the Bensalem Police Department, specifically the Special Victims Unit, and the Philadelphia Police Department, alongside the work of our capable Homicide and Non-Fatal Shooting Unit, this defendant no longer poses a threat to our community.”
“Thanks to the jury for handing down a just verdict in this case,” said ADA Russell. “I also want to thank Bensalem police and Philadelphia police for their investigation in this case.”
