Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Philadelphia Foundation Award Over $600,000 in Violence Prevention Grants

PHILADELPHIA (October 15, 2024) — District Attorney Larry Krasner and the Philadelphia Foundation awarded $620,000 in violence prevention microgrants to 32 community-based 501(c)(3) organizations on Tuesday. This distribution is the largest amount of microgrants awarded by the DAO and Philadelphia Foundation since the DAO’s Violence Prevention Grant Program launched in May 2021. The program has awarded nearly $4 million to community-based nonprofits working to address the root causes of violence since its inception.

The awardees are as follows:

5 Shorts Project – Culture Trust Greater Philadelphia is awarded $15,000.

A New Dawn Incorporated is awarded $10,000.

All Mentees On Board is awarded $10,000.

Anti-Violence Partnership Of Philadelphia is awarded $50,000.

Big Picture Philadelphia is awarded $30,000.

Black Brains Campaign Association is awarded $15,000.

Black Men Heal is awarded $15,000.

CB Community Schools is awarded $25,000.

Center For Families And Relationships is awarded $25,000.

Collective Climb is awarded $25,000.

Cranaleith Spiritual Center is awarded $25,000.

Education Plus Health is awarded $20,000.

Federation Of Neighborhood Centers is awarded $10,000.

Greater Hope Christian Academy is awarded $10,000.

I Choose To Win is awarded $20,000.

North Philly Project is awarded $15,000.

Northwest Victim Services is awarded $40,000.

Odunde, Inc. is awarded $10,000.

Operation Save Our City – Culture Trust Greater Philadelphia is awarded $25,000.

Peter’s Place is awarded $25,000.

Philadelphia Leadership Foundation is awarded $10,000.

PLUG – The ECO Foundation is awarded $15,000.

Rock To The Future is awarded $25,000.

Sankofa Healing Studios is awarded $15,000.

TEAM Inc/Men of Courage – The Empowerment Achievement Movement is awarded $15,000. 

The Mastermind Cooperative is awarded $10,000.

The Minority Center For Participation & Empowerment is awarded $15,000.

Timoteo Philadelphia Inc. is awarded $10,000.

Trust Factor Organization is awarded $10,000.

Uplift Center For Grieving Children is awarded $50,000.

We Love Philly is awarded $25,000.

“While we continue to see a truly historic decline in gun violence nationally and in Philadelphia, we can’t let our foot off of the gas,” said DA Krasner. “That’s why my administration is thrilled to continue helping community-based groups that have contributed largely to this drop in violence. Through ongoing violence prevention and modern law enforcement efforts, we will curb violent crime even more.”

The next round of microgrant awards will focus on organizations providing support to elder victims of violence in Philadelphia. Towards the end of November, the DAO will announce the opening of the application process for this next round of funding. DAO violence prevention grant funding is derived from the lawful and appropriate use of civil asset forfeiture and is distributed and audited by the Philadelphia Foundation.
